The celebration starts with a Kick Off, Saturday, June 9th, 10:00 AM at Solomon M. Coles School, 924 Winnebago, Corpus Christi TX. Highlight – History of Juneteenth, panel discussion on “State of Blacks in the City”, and light refreshments. This event is free and open to the community.
AWARD BANQUET

Keynote speaker is Yvonne Johnson, LHD., first Black mayor of Greensboro, NC. 2012 honorees are educators, elected officials, employers, entrepreneurs, and African American High School graduates.
Local honorees include June Lewis, Floyd Williams, Ruth Williams, Irma Wilson, PhD., Charles White, Thelma Ceasar, Shirley Jordan, Ola Tryon, Dorothy Wade, Mayor Joe Adame, former mayor MacDonald, former mayor Betty Turner, Mike Pusley, and Larry Eliizondo.
State honorees include Janet Banks, LHD. National honorees include Quintard Taylor and Yvonne Johnson, LHD.
